Facebook summons its first gaming app challenging Twitch and YouTube!

The rising popularity of gaming during such times has led Facebook to invoke its stand-alone gaming app, introducing enthusiasts to options of discovering, connecting and playing.

A global pandemic might be a threatening factor to most businesses around the globe, but some take advantage, cope and adapt to new realities at hand.

COVID-19, the subject of the hour grasping all attention, spreading fear, loneliness and anxiety; if it’s not through contagion, it’s through media and social platforms.

We belong to an era where information is being rapidly transmitted across networks, feeding this challenge with power, gearing it with inevitability.

But, while things might be strange and hard, human beings are well known for their adaptability, their never-ending survival mode and their eagerness to “RESPAWN”.

Tackling this specific matter; the app called “Facebook Gaming”, has launched for Android processing phones on Monday, April 20 and is set to be released on IOS once Apple approves the listing.

Joining the battle with the giants “Twitch” and “YouTube” for ongoing growth in popular culture of gaming and game-related content, Facebook is reconnecting with its community by bringing people together especially in these challenging times, defeating loneliness and anxiety.

According to Facebook’s Fidji Simo:

“Investing in gaming, in general, has become a priority for us because we see gaming as a form of entertainment that really connects people. It’s entertainment that’s not just a form of passive consumption but entertainment that is interactive and brings people together.”

From curated content by professional streamers and playing casual games to using the Go Live feature that lets anyone playing a mobile game to stream it. 

Three elements reign on this gaming app:

1- Watch: tuning in to the latest videos and news about the massive world of gaming, as well as checking out the latest gameplay.

2- Play: there’s that option that allows you to play a set of games without downloading, and you can even choose multiplayer modes.

3- Connect: Be part of a community, a group, chatting and exchanging fanatic talks about your favourite games and heroes.

Well, it might not be the solution for this major challenge that we are all facing, but it might be a gateway for stress relief, warmth and sense of belonging.

So, come on, waiting for player 2!
