Hot Meme Summer

Simmering down from the sizzling summer means that fall’s around the corner. And what better time than now to round up the summer’s hottest social media trends? We’re diving into this summer’s trendiest, most viral memes.

It’s a roundup of the year’s hottest memes, so far:

MARIE KONDO:

The Japanese minimalist and organisation queen became an adjective once her series, Tidying Up, dropped on Netflix earlier this year. On her show, Marie teaches people how to refresh their homes, clean up their spaces, and live with less clutter by offering a new way of thinking of possessions. The memes spread so quickly that Netflix had to release a statement asking everyone to stop the Kondo meme train.

NANCY PELOSI’S CLAP:

A Democratic Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, cracked the Internet up with what has come to be known as the “petty clap.”

AVENGERS: END GAME:

Consisting of 21 Marvel films and a huge group of superheroes, Avengers: End Game had the biggest opening weekend box office in history. And with this many fans, there were double the memes

OLD TOWN ROAD:

Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus collaborated on one of the hottest songs of the summer, ‘Old Town Road.’

THE MELTDOWN:

In what is probably the most cynical memes of the summer, the Meltdown is two photos, one featuring Ms Juicy from Little Women: Atlanta, and the other a star of a viral video, @quenblackwell. These two images have been virally shared as social media users use this meme in ways that are all too real. And we mean, meltdowns, social commentary, and politics have all been touched on by The Meltdown.

BOTTLE CAP CHALLENGE:

As the name states, the Bottle Cap Challenge is a viral challenge that has social media users all over the world roundhouse kicking a water bottle to get the cap off. Sounds simple enough. But when you’re Kendall Jenner, and you do this off of a jet-ski, then you know ish just got real.

AREA 51:

A ‘Storm Area 51’ event popped up on Facebook one day, and Area 51 became a trending topic in a matter of no time. Conspiracy theories have surrounded Area 51 for the longest time, the location is being an American government facility and military base in Nevada, With 400K interested in the event on Facebook, Twitter users quickly followed suit with a plethora of alien memes.

KEANU REEVES:

‘Nough said.
